The Collaborative for Social and Emotional Learning

The Collaborative to Advance Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) is a collaborative of educators, scientists, human service providers, policy makers, and concerned citizens who are working together to promote social and emotional learning (SEL) as an integral part of education in schools
throughout the world. CASEL seeks to provide a forum that fosters the exchange of educational ideas and practices that support the development of knowledgeable, responsible, and caring students.
CASEL is based on the premise that cognitive, social, and emotional development are naturally interwoven and that optimal development is supported when social skills and emotional development are made an integral part of teaching, learning, and community life.

The Fetzer Institute is a nonprofit private operating foundation that supports research, education, and service programs exploring the integral relationships among body, mind, and spirit.
The Institute has a special interest in how individuals and communities are influenced by the interactions among the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions of life, and how understandings in these areas can improve health, foster growth, and better the human condition.
The Institute works collaboratively with other organizations, institutions, and individuals. While their programs are conducted in a wide variety of settings, much of the conceptual work is done at their retreat center, Seasons: A Center for Renewal. Teachers and healers, scientists and scholars, leaders of public life and agents of cultural change are invited to Seasons to participate with Institute staff in conversations and working groups that contribute to the common good.
