The 7 Habits of
Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change by Stephen R. Covey List Price: $14.00 Our Price: $11.20 You Save: $2.80 (20%) Availability: Usually ships within 24 hours. Paperback - 360 pages Reprint edition (August 1990) Amazon.com Sales Rank: 71 Avg. Customer Review: **** |
The 7 Habits of
Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change was a groundbreaker when it
was first published in 1990, and it
continues to be a business bestseller with more than 10 million copies sold. Stephen
Covey, an internationally respected leadership authority, realizes that true success
encompasses a balance of personal and professional effectiveness,
so this book is a manual for performing better in both arenas. His anecdotes are as
frequently from family situations as from business challenges.
Before you can adopt the seven habits, you'll
need to accomplish what Covey calls a "paradigm shift"--a change in perception
and interpretation of
how the world works. Covey takes you through this change, which affects
how you perceive and act regarding productivity, time management, positive thinking,
developing your "proactive muscles" (acting with initiative rather
than reacting), and much more.
There's a reason 7 Habits has sold more than 5 million copies and been
translated into 32 languages. Serious work has obviously gone into it, and
serious change can likely come out of it--but only with constant discipline and steadfast
commitment.

First Things
First: To Live, to Love, to Learn, to Leave a Legacy by Stephen R. Covey, List Price: $14.00 Our Price: $11.20 You Save: $2.80 (20%) Availability: Usually ships within 24 hours. Paperback Reprint edition (January 1996) Amazon.com Sales Rank: 685 Avg. Customer Review: ***** |
What are the most important things in your
life? Do they get as much
care, emphasis, and time as you'd like to give them? Far from the traditional
"be-more-efficient" time-management book with shortcut techniques, First
Things First shows you how to look at your use of time totally differently. Using
this book will help you create balance between your personal and professional
responsibilities by putting first things first and acting on them. Covey teaches
an organizing process that helps you categorize tasks so you focus on what is
important, not merely what is urgent. First you divide tasks into these
quadrants:
1.Important and Urgent (crises, deadline-driven
projects)
2.Important, Not Urgent (preparation,
prevention, planning, relationships)
3.Urgent, Not Important (interruptions, many
pressing matters)
4.Not Urgent, Not Important (trivia, time
wasters)
Most people spend most of their time in
quadrants 1 and 3, while quadrant
2 is where quality happens. "Doing more things faster is no substitute for doing
the right things," says Covey. He points you toward the real human needs--"to
live, to love, to learn, to leave a legacy"--and how to balance your time to
achieve a meaningful life, not just get things done. --Joan Price

Conversations
With God: An Uncommon Dialogue by Neale Donald Walsch List Price: $19.95 Our Price: $13.97 You Save: $5.98 (30%) Availability: Usually ships within 24 hours. Hardcover - 211 pages Vol 1 (November 1996) Amazon.com Sales Rank: 71 Avg. Customer Review: ***** |
In 1992, Neale Donald Walsch was nearing 50 and feeling less than happy with
his life--his four marriages had failed, his relationships with his kids were
spotty, his health was poor, and he'd just lost his job. In frustration he dashed
off an angry letter to God. As Walsch describes in the two bestselling volumes
of Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue, God answered back in a
personable, colloquial voice. Their conversation continued for three years, as
Walsch petitioned God with questions both basic (why do people suffer?) and
personal (why couldn't he get ahead financially?). In 1995, Walsch published the
first installment of his Q & A session with God, because he felt the material had
something to offer whether readers believed the conversations took place, or
not.

Resuming the dialogue where Book 1 left off, Conversations with God, Book 2
moves from personal issues to more global and political concerns. Included are
questions about the nature of time and space and human sexuality, as well as
geophysical and geopolitical considerations of worldwide implication.
Just about every question I had about our
existance had been answered
through reading this book. Its every explanation about GOD made perfect
sence . I was extremely moved by it, and I could read it over and over again
without getting bored.
